Etwa 800 Millionen Plastikflaschen sind in Deutschland pro Jahr im Umlauf.
Nur zu einem Bruchteil werden diese recycelt und selbst wenn sie im Automaten oder in der Wertstofftonne landen, kann das Plastik nur teilweise wiederverwertet werden.
Der Rest landet über die Luft, den Boden und/oder das Wasser in unsere Natur und durch den natürlichen Kreislauf auch wieder zurück zu uns.
Als Giftstoffe in den Seen und Meeren in denen wir baden, deren Wasser wir trinken.
Giftige Substanzen landen im Boden, auf dem wir unsere Nutzpflanzen anbauen.
Aber was tun?
Ganz einfach! Besorge dir eine nachhaltige Trinkflasche und fülle sie mit Leitungswasser.
Leitungswasser ist das in Deutschland bestkontrollierte Lebensmittel. Es wird sogar strenger kontrolliert als das Wasser, was wir in Flaschen kaufen können.
In den USA gab es schon Skandale, bei denen Leute von dem gekauften Wasser krank wurden, da es zum Teil sehr wenigen oder gar keinen Kontrollen unterliegt.
Nun mögen manche Stimmen laut werden, dass manche Häuser alte Leitungen haben und ob man schonmal den Baktieriengehalt in seinem Leitungswasser gemessen hätte, das sei unglaublich viel.
Ich kann natürlich nicht in jede Leitung schauen und ich möchte auch niemanden daran hindern, Wasserfilter zu verwenden, wenn sie das für besser halten.
Jeder soll das tun, was er für richtig und nötig hält.
Doch Wasser in Plastikflaschen ist nicht nur für die Umwelt eine wahnsinnige Belastung. Nachweislich schädliche Stoffe wie Weichmacher lösen sich aus dem Plastik und fließen beim Trinken des abgepackten Nass direkt in unsere Körper.
Wer sich und der Umwelt das ersparen möchte, kauft sich einmal eine Flasche aus Glas oder Edelstahl und füllt sie einfach immer wieder auf.
Das spart auf lange Sicht auch unglaublich viel Geld!
Und noch dazu gibt es wirklich coole Flaschen, wie zum Beispiel unsere Klean Kanteen Reflect!

Water - elixir of life
We couldn't exist without water. But nowadays - unfortunately - it's cause of one of the planet's biggest pollutions: plastic water bottles.
In Germany alone there are used about 800 Million plastic water bottles every year.
Only a small part is actually recycled and even if they are properly recycled, the materials cannot be reused to their full potentials. So parts of the plastic tragedy find their way through air, soil and water into nature and, following the natural circle, back to ourselves.
So what can we do about that?
It's simple: Buy a sustainable water bottle and fill it up with tap water - time after time! Tap water is subject to very strict tests - often even stricter that the ones for bottled water.
There were cases in the U.S. where people actually got sick from bottled water because tests were not strict enough or not even required.
Now people might say, that tap water in many houses is not good because of the old, dirty pipes and there are many bacteria in it.
Well, I can't look in all of your waterpipes and of course, this might be right. If it makes you feel better - and some even say, the water tastes better - use a water filter for your home.
But plastic bottles are not only bad for our environment, it's proven that they are bad for our health, too! Plasticizers/softeners from the plastic dissolve into the water we drink from those bottles and are proven to be e.g. carcinogenic and cause of hormonal diseases.
So who would not want to avoid that and rather buy a sustainable water bottle from glass or stainless steel and fill it up over and over again?!
In the long run you will also save a whole lot of money!
And there are many cool bottles on the market aswell. For example our Kleen Kanteen Reflect. We chose this bottle, because it's only made from stainless steel, bamboo and medical silicone- without the use of BPA and practically undestroyable :)

Why is bringing reusable options seen as so easy by some, but sort of hard for many?

AntwortenLöschenFür mich ist immer noch eine Glas-Flasche das Non-Plus-Ultra. Besonders die Soulbottle hat es mir angetan. Nicht nur weil sie gesund ist. Die Macher fördern lokale Manufakturen, geben einen bestimmten Anteil an die Künstler, die für die Motive verantwortlich sind und zahlen sogar jedes Jahr noch einen gewissen Betrag, um deren eigenen CO2-Emissionen wieder auszugleichen. Mehr zu BPA und Weichmachern gibt es übrigens hier.
